Traditional Chocolate Cream Pie

Traditional chocolate pudding is the base for this pie.

Ingredients
 
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons Fleischmann's® Corn Starch
1/4 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups milk
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 baked (9-inch) pie crust
Whipped cream or thawed frozen whipped topping
 
 
Instructions
 

Combine sugar, corn starch and salt in a 2-quart saucepan. Gradually stir in milk until smooth. Stir in egg yolks.

Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, and boil 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate and vanilla until smooth.

Spoon hot filling into pie crust. Cool 10 minutes on wire rack. Cover surface with plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for 2 hours or until cold.

Spread whipped cream over filling before serving and keep cold.
